WORKS ON PAPER

I use my sketchbook and alter books as a means to understand and play with compositions. These specific pages were from a book titled the Sea in Action by Earl Daniels from a book series called How To Draw…Series, published in 1987 by Foster Art Service. I used acrylic paint, ink, goauche and Sharpie marker.

This botanical series is from a sketchbook I kept throughout the year 2019 to record botanical specimens that I collected in the field. I broke specimens apart, dried them and photographed each plant’s anatomy. using a magnified lens. I was interested in the gutter of the sletchbook playing an active role in building a composition.
